Acoustic Jam 10
25th January 2003 Actors Studio Box

It's not too far fetched I feel (I am a modest guy) to describe Acoustic Jam 10 as a success. Efforts on the publicity front were rewarded by a paying audience of seventy-three, who together with the participating musicians, who in general stayed around to support other performers made the numbers almost full capacity for the Actors Studio Box on that Saturday night.
This was the second time the Acoustic Jam took place in the Box and it was much more successful than the first.

A succession of rugged individualists paraded themselves before an enthusiastic audience who were as quiet as mice until the end of each song, and then really gave it out. great!
And the compere for the night had to act as hatchet man because the audience
made it clear they wanted more of each of the acts on the programme.

Eugene brought along only himself and his guitar and filled the Actors Studio Box to bursting point.
Meor brought along about a hundred musicians
(well, it seemed at times like a hundred) because the guitarists, which included the legendary guitar hero and merciless music reviewer R.S. Murti and percussionists were so good (and there was a digerido-ing his thing too).

Shelley seemed a little coy about her songs which were all tomorrow's hits from Nashville (Shania Twain look out) and a couple of guitarists embellished her efforts on both piano and guitar, accompanying her singing. The songs had that meaningful country feel and were about real experiences and feelings.

The two bands, Soma renamed Jimmy and the Galactic Empire and Flatline
both had smart songs and displayed fine musicianship.

There were a few technical hitches but the evening went very well, a lot due to Vig the soundman who worked conscientiously to ensure everyone sounded as good as they could.

Thanks so much to you Vig and to Heng the Actors Studio technical crew
who also operated the lights.
And obviously thanks tons to the performers without whom...

As we had a more numerous audience there was a payment for each of the five artists of RM50! Those who have not received their cut please get in touch (0193688130). The next Acoustic Jam will be on April 26th also at the Box and feature Peteteo, Jungle Jam, Ariff Akhir, Chak and Y2K.
